November 2016 Elections
During the summer of 2016, we held 2 candidate endorsement cafés in which over 100 people met and spoke with candidates for Berkeley Mayor, Berkeley Rent Board, Berkeley City Council District 2, Berkeley City Council District 3, and BART District 7. Residents asked candidates about what they would do to reverse the displacement of low-income families and Black residents from South Berkeley, support the South Berkeley nonprofits that provide vital services to vulnerable members of our community, strengthen transit options that are affordable, safe, and accessible, and more. After speaking with candidates, we used dot-voting to determine which candidates are most supportive of our Community Vision [LINK: to webpage on the Community Vision Statement] and who we would endorse.
In September 2016, we held a ballot initiatives café where speakers presented on several important Berkeley ballot initiatives. Residents asked questions and voiced what position Friends of Adeline should take.
